Basecamp Maasai Mara is as much a home as it is a travel destination. Guests become more than visitors, they become part of the Maasai community. Built along banks of the Talek River (the natural border to the Maasai Mara National Reserve) are seventeen double riverside tents. Each double tent offers king-size double or twin beds, a bathroom featuring bio-flush toilets and two solar-heated showers, one inside and one open-air safari shower, a private deck where you have a direct view of the Masai Mara National Reserve.
The family tent has two separate wings, each featuring a double bed with a shared bathroom area. The tent offers a larger deluxe balcony to give families or groups a chance to socialize in complete privacy
The camp provides an excellent base for exploring nature conservation like the Basecamp Nature Forest and Community-based initiatives like the Masai Beading Center (Basecamp Maasai Brand) to promote & preserve local culture and talent. While here experience a combination of authentic hosting and cultural immersion in the company of local Maasai hosts and guides.
Located next to Basecamp Maasai Mara near the Talek village, the Enjoolata Centre is open for anyone who seeks knowledge and deeper understanding. Guests and other visitors are invited to learn about history and the present, face to face with the Maasai at Enjoolata Awareness Centre. This is done through exhibitions and movies. The center was opened as part of Basecamp Masai Mara mission to conserve the co-existence of wildlife and Maasai culture.
You will get an opportunity to interact with local Maasai women as they utilize their traditional knowledge and skills to create unique beaded items for sale.
The Enjoolata Centre houses a multimedia editing room, and a movie square showing classic movies such as ‘Out of Africa’ under the starlit African skies.
