Day 4: GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI FOREST

Early morning breakfast starts at around 06.30am, it is important to give you the energy needed for your gorilla trek.  Kindly ensure that you carry water for hydration because the trek is hard, and you need to keep hydrated. Insect repellant also comes in very handy.

Theres is usually a short briefing on the rules and regulations of the park at 08.00am where everyone trekking is required to attend before the trek.  The stop over by the ranger station is mainly for registration and a talk by one of the rangers; the guides will then take you through the bush pushing your way through the undergrowth, parting thick creepers, to track the gorillas.

The trek can take from half an hour to 7 hours – a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes, long sleeved shirt to protect one in case of thorns in the forest, a pair of gloves, rain protection gears because the Bwindi weather is so unpredictable and a mask in cases where one has an infection and for the protection of the mountain gorillas
